The weight of a body, on Earth, is the force with which is attracted to the Earth and is same as the gravitational pull on the body. Using Newton's second law, the weight of the body is given as:

Weight = Mass x acceleration due to gravity = m x g

= 60 kg x 9.81 m/s^2 = 588.6 N

The potential energy of a body is given as the product of its weight and height. Here we are neglecting the variations in acceleration due to gravity with height.

or, potential energy = mass x acceleration due to gravity x height

= weight x height = 588.6 N x height

or. 1000.0 = 588.6 N x height

Solving the equation, we get height of the hill as 1.70 m.
