Primary sources have sources that are produced by people with direct personal knowledge of the subject.  Therefore, primary sources with regard to student leadership would need to come from people who have been student leaders or who have worked with student leaders.  This might take the form of interviews with student leaders or leadership teachers.

Secondary sources are those that are produced by people who study a subject, as opposed to those who live it.  A secondary source would be something like a textbook on leadership or a journal article that studied different styles of student leadership.  It might be an article about how to teach students to be better leaders.
