I would go back to Elizabethan England and go to the Globe Theatre to see each of Shakespeare's opening nights! I can only imagine how interesting it would be to see the plays as Shakespeare (writer/director) intended them to be performed. If I had my present-day knowledge I would take good notes on the essentials of each production.
I know it would be a difficult time to live, but I would like to experience medieval life for a short time. I'd prefer the tail end of the era, just on the cusp of all the inventions, innovations, and inspirations which come to glorious fruition during the Renaissance.
I've always wanted to see what life would have been like in the 1920s, before the American Empire was firmly established, before the country was wealthy, and before the Depression, World War II and the Cold War permanently changed American life. It wasn't a time that was as much of a party as it was made out to be, but I think it would be fascinating to tour an American city on the eastern seaboard at that time, not to mention our national parks.
After thinking about your question, basically all day, I would have to say there are too many times and events I would like to see. So, I am going to change my movie from "back to the Future" to "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure". I would like the ability to see many different time periods and places...King's speeches, Abraham Lincoln's Inaugural Address, the meeting of the Indians and the Pilgrims...you get my point. Simply too many places to narrow down to one!!!
Another great movie to check out!
Does it have to be in historical times? I would like to go back far enough to watch one or more of the Lake Missoula floods that let huge amounts of water run through my area of Washington and helped cut the Columbia River gorge. Of course, I would not want to be in the water.
Otherwise, I would like to go back and watch the first people coming to North America. Did they come by land or did they come in boats going along the coast? I would love to know that...
Questions like this always make me think about "Back to the Future." I would love to go back to either the Wild West- I am a sucker for western life, or I would like to go back to the time of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table. I just like the idea of courtly love and honor.
I would travel back to Victorian England. I have read so many books from that time period, it would be fascinating to see it in person, in all its gritty realism. I have been to London in modern times, and in many ways it looks as I pictured it. I would love to see it then!
Being a native of Florida, I would love to go back to the late 19th century when the first boom began in the Sunshine State. I would love to travel the state before it became so heavily populated and commercialized--and hopefully display the foresight to buy up some beachfront property for a song.
This may seem really odd, but if I could go back in time, I would go to the exact date when the Berlin wall was taken down. I had many family members trapped behind that wall, and some even died behind it. I would have just loved to take a pickaxe and hacked at that wall that hurt and killed so many people. I would have loved to hear the yells in German, even if I barely understood them. I would have loved to see the joy and happiness on everyone's faces as they tore it down. I would have loved to hug everyone and to celebrate with them. I may even take a piece with me. Most of all, I would have really liked to help send that message out that said "Hey, we won't be trapped here any longer!".
If I were to go back into time, I would really be between the 1980s and during the Golden Age of Athens.
The 80's had amazing sytle for hair and music. The best is the Hair Metal music and the decade of the 80s had the best time in American History. I personally enjoy their music than modern music, they have meaning into each song, good or bad.
I love Greek Mythology, and I love learning about Ancient Greece, especially Athens. The culture is amazing and hearing how they lived in their high age and mixed it with their faith, the gods and goddesses.
Rome! At the end of The Republic. I'd 'invent' a load of stuff and get mega-rich, become a senator and head off that over-rated tyrant Julius Ceasar's overthrow of democracy. I'd 'invent' the printing press, reinvigorate the economy, kick start 'The Enlightenment', stave of the collapse of the Roman Empire and avoid those 1000 wasted years of grim and brutal Dark Ages and Middle Ages. And instead of 'Ceasar' becoming the name synonymous for glorious leadership, the name Frizzyperm will symbolise wise and just rule down the ages.
Nothing too ambitious you understand.
i would go back to meet Shakespeare he is amazing
being mixed with black i would want to go back in time just to meet Martin Lurether King JR just so i can say i met him and so i can share the experience with children about the march.
Hahahaahha. Watching Back to the Future was the reason i made this discussion up. lol :D
