An illustration of the letter 'A' in a speech bubbles

When you say x2, do you mean x squared?  Just for future reference, if you want to ask questions like this that have powers, you can write this as x^2.  If you do mean to ask about x squared, when x = 1, x squared is also 1.

When you sqaure a number, what you are doing is multiplying that number by itself.  So 3 squared is 3*3 and that is 9.  It is the same with 1 squared.  But in this case, one times itself just comes out to 1.
