Bleeding after intercourse could be due to trauma to the skin in the vaginal tract.  The friction of intercourse can cause this trauma.

Heavy bleeding right after intercourse is something you should talk to your doctor about.  Especially if it is happening minutes after sex.  If the bleeding is occurring days, weeks, or months after intercourse it may be something serious.

Heavy bleeding months after pregnancy could be a warning sign of an ectopic pregnancy.  An ectopic pregnant is when the egg becomes attached to the fallopian tube instead of the uterus.  This is a serious condition and would require medical intervention.

No matter when the bleeding occurs I would reccommend that you speak with a medical professional.

It depends...is the bleeding immediately after sex or weeks after sex?

If it is immediately after sex then I would say that perhaps something inside the woman (for example, the hymen) has a minor rip or tear.

Bleeding from a miscarriage does not happen because a woman has sex. Rather, it happens randomly, usually due to an abnormality of the fetus. There is usually pain associated with miscarriages as well.

The best thing to do is to see a doctor. They will be able to give you the best advice by conducting and examination and running tests if necessary. In addition, remember it is VERY important to always follow safe sex rules. This means the use of condoms. If birth control is used it is still possible to get STD's.
