Zoning laws were created to protect our citizens. When people buy a house, they expect the area around their house will be in a residential area. They don’t want a lot of businesses being built very close to their home. They expect the area to be a quiet area with minimal traffic. Zoning laws help to provide this.

Zoning laws also help businesses. Businesses want to be in an area where there are other businesses and a lot of activities. When an area is zoned for business activities, this helps to create an environment that is good for businesses.

Zoning laws help educational and religious institutions. Schools need to be in an area where there isn’t a lot of activity or traffic. Religious institutions also need similar protection. These regulations are established to protect our citizens, businesses, and other institutions from improper use of land around their property.
