Why were Tony's dreams premonitions

Premonitions are concrete or symbolic dreams that foreshadow future events. In Rudolfo Anaya’s novel Bless Me, Ultima, some of Tony's dreams suggest future events through symbols (such as the Tenorio’s killing the owl indicating Ultima’s future death, and Tony's speaking to the golden carp suggesting his future religious dilemma), and some of which were about real events (such as the argument between his parents that happened around the time of his birth).

Dreams are events that happen in the mind during sleep. Premonitions are dreams or strong feelings that indicate or suggest future events, often involving knowledge without logical reasoning or previous knowledge about such events. Dreams that do not foreshadow future events are not considered as premonitions.
