I would like to see this question moved to the Religion Discussion Forum. This is the type of question that should generate some great insights and discussion points!

Personally, I'm not sure "infatuated" is the word I would use to describe the general reaction toward an approaching apocalypse. I think there are some who believe they are identifying aspects of modern society or current events as being the indicators predicted by prophets of the past as signals of the approach of the end of the ages. For those individuals, the study of those signs is of critical importance, and they feel an obligation to make others aware of the impending events they foresee.

I think there is a certain amount of curiosity in most human beings, regardless of whether or not we believe in or agree with these interpretations. Most of us would like to know what the future holds; most of us have things we would like to accomplish or preparations we would like to complete before the apocalypse occurs if we are able to know when it is coming.
