When Hannah goes to the door of the apartment during the Seder, she opens it to find herself in another world at another time. At first, she thinks she is just imagining or dreaming it. When the vision continues and progresses, Hannah begins to absorb the character and time of Chaya. As the vision continues, Chaya takes over, and Hannah of the present fades until brief flashes of memory is all that remains. She returns to the present after experiencing the Holocaust through the persona of Chaya when her aunt asks what she sees.
