You need to remember that the difference of potential causes the movement of water, hence the water moves from a higher concentration zone to a lower concentration zone.

You should know that the more solute will be present in a solution, the less water will be, hence the water potential will be lower.

You should also know that the less solute concentration is, the higher water potential the solution has.

Thus, you may come to a conclusion that the more pure the water is, the higher the water potential is.
