The earth is revolutionary in that it revolves around the sun. One complete revolution takes 365.25 days, or one year. Of course, there are also political revolutions, the kind which the Black Panthers advocate in One Crazy Summer.

As part of their rather eclectic education, some of the children at the Center are treated to a practical demonstration that combines science with political indoctrination. One of the kids, Hirohito Woods, is chosen by Sister Mukumbu to represent the earth, whereas she represents the sun. Sister Mukumbu is using science to make a political point. Just as the earth changes as it revolves around the sun, so too does the world change when radical leaders like Huey Newton and Che Guevara instigate political revolution.
