This is a good question. There are many reasons why it is important to know you leaders. I will only mention three of them. First, it is important to know your leaders, because America is based on the principle of representation. In other words, these leaders represent you. So, you would want to know who represents you.
Second, since our leaders are elected officials, we can get rid of them by not voting them in when their terms end, if they do not do a good job. For this to take place, we would need to know them. We act as an accountability group for leaders. This is an important point that needs to be emphasized.
Third, leaders have power to make decisions and these decisions can impact our lives greatly. To know what leaders stand for and what they believe will directly impact us.
It is important to know your leaders so that you can collaborate with them easily. Also, if you know your leader you will not be surprised with the decisions he/she will make.
