Your mother may be right this time! Breakfast just may be the most important meal of the day. Several advantages of eating breakfast are identified below.

  • When a person sleeps, his/her body goes into a fasting mode. Breakfast helps to jump-start your metabolism in the morning. Additionally, eating breakfast helps to prevent a person from becoming excessively hungry during his/her next meal and overeating. Both of these advantages may help a person maintain a normal and healthy body weight.
  • Eating breakfast helps to ensure that an individual consumes all the recommended daily nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Breakfast has been shown to increase an individual’s ability to concentrate. This is why it is recommended that a healthy, balanced breakfast be consumed prior to a large test or exam.
