Jane Goodall's work matters because her Institute furthers citizen-power in the great work of nurturing and supporting the environment. She puts stewarding the earth at the forefront of human concerns and makes sure this work is always included at the top of the agenda. Many beautiful and rare habitats are under threat such as the rainforest and now even the ice caps. The animals ,flora and fauna that rely on these environments are also in high peril as they rely on the plants and conditions there for their sustenance.
Jane Goodall encourages us as earth citizens to take informed and compassionate action to protect the earth that we all enjoy and rely on. She aims to educate and inform in order to protect endangered species such as the great apes.
Jane Goodall was a pioneer in the social anthropology of animal societies. Given that humans are evolved from simians her work can be very instructive, both to studies of humans and animal psychology. Animal behavior and observations about their mating rituals, habitat, feeding habits, social structure not only lends information about mammal behavior in general but aids in the conservation of endangered animals and their habitat. Also making it possible to learn how humans and animals can coexist without conflict. In reference to Dr. Goodall herself, she is the first woman to become known and excel in her field of study. A common mistake you should not make in writing about this subject is to call chimps monkeys. Chimpanzees are apes, monkeys have tails, apes do not.If you go to the sites below you will find ample information on her many contributions both to science and conservation.
