Louis XIV became a Monarch at an early age. He was only five when he was crowned king following the death of his father. In 1661, Louis XIV was ready to demonstrate his power over the people. He took his role as a sovereign ruler as highly important. He also believed that God gave a king his power and that the power to rule was his divine right. Louis XIV favored the god Apollo. The sun was symbolic of Apollo, a god known to care about peace.  Also, the sun was the giver of life to everything. Louis XIV believed that he was similar to Apollo, because he brought peace to his country. The power of the Sun King, Louis XIV, led to a long reign.
