Workplace discrimination against people with AIDS is an important issue both for those who suffer from the disease and for society as a whole.

For those who suffer from AIDS, this is important because it affects their ability to make a living.  AIDS patients are already in a bad situation and denying them the chance to work makes their lives more difficult still.  For our society as a whole, all sorts of discrimination are problematic.  Whenever we discriminate against anyone, we reduce the level of justice in our society.  Therefore, discrimination against people with AIDS harms our society as a whole, even if that harm is much less tangible way than the harm done to the victims of the discrimination.
