The Yalta Conference took place in February of 1945.  It took place in Yalta, which is now in Ukraine.  It was a meeting of the major Allied powers who were taking part in World War II.  These were the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union.  The United States was represented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  The United Kingdom was represented by Prime Minister Winston Churchill.  The Soviet Union was represented by Joseph Stalin, who was the General Secretary of the Communist Party.  (In effect, he was the dictator of the USSR.)  There were other, lesser officials there, of course, but these were the leaders present.
