Hello, yes. Pol Pot led the 'Khmer Rouge' (Communist rebellion) in Cambodia/Kampuchea in 1975 onwards.

Cambodia became independent from French colonial rule in 1953, and was initially ruled by King Norodom Sihanouk, as a constitutional monarchy; but his government was overthrown in a military coup in 1970, led by General Lon Nol. In 1975, in turn, the Communists under Pol Pot made their bid to gain power.
