An illustration of the letter 'A' in a speech bubbles

Frank is a 32-year-old character who managed to be one year ahead of the draft. He never served in WWII. Instead, he stayed home, and as a result, began dating and married George’s former “sweetheart,” Lydia. His effect on the plot is to strengthen Kate’s faith that Larry is alive. He reads Larry’s horoscope to her, claiming that the day that he allegedly died was instead a favorable day. As a result, Ann has a much more difficult time to reveal the letter to her.
