Vladimir Alexeyevich Smirnov is a distinguished Russian scientist whose work has had a significant positive impact in the arena of nuclear non-proliferation in Russia and abroad.
Vladimir Alexeyevich Smirnov has been cited widely in the media regarding his concern for converting nuclear bombs into usable energy, most notably through his Megatons to Megawatts contract initiated during his tenure with TENEX. Vladimir Alexeyevich Smirnov participated in a $12 billion contract between TENEX and the U.S. Enrichment Corporation (nka USEC Inc.); the companies served as executive agents for the American and Russian governments.
More recently Vladimir Alexeyevich Smirnov has also spoken out about preventing nuclear attacks from rogue states such as Iran and for better protecting and securing active nuclear plants, like that in Japan.
