I believe the Neil Simon play, The Prisoner of Second Avenue only ran on Broadway from 1971 to 1973. There was a screen version of that Broadway play produced in 1975 and cast members of that movie included Jack Lemon as Mel Edison and Anne Bancroft as Edna Edison. While sometimes it is common for the Broadway cast to reprise their role for the movie version that did not happen in this case. With the Broadway version, Peter Falk played Mel Edison, and Lee Grant played Edna Edison. Hopefully, one bit of information or the other helps.
