An illustration of the letter 'A' in a speech bubbles

Officer David Delinko is kind of like an adult version of Roy in that he too is on a journey of self-discovery. In the course of the story, David discovers the true meaning of integrity and in doing so comes to understand what's really important in life.

As with any young police officer, David's very ambitious and wants to make a success of his career in law enforcement. As such, he's initially keen not to rock the boat or do anything that might jeopardize his chances of promotion. This is especially important in a place like Coconut Cove, with its small-town mentality.

At first, David's attempts at playing Sherlock Holmes don't get off to a very good start. Despite his determination to find out who's been vandalizing the construction site, he falls asleep during round-the-clock surveillance and ends up back on desk duty as a result. Nevertheless, David's nothing if not determined, and he doggedly goes about his business, trying to determine who's been attempting to stop Mother Paula's Pancake House from being built.

However, once David finds out about the owls, he doesn't hesitate in joining forces with Roy and Mullet Fingers to stop the animals' habitat from being destroyed. David has realized that sometimes it's necessary to do the right thing, even if it means that you might end up losing your job.
