In Flowers for Algernon, Miss Kinnian is Charlie's teacher at the school that he attends. She is also the person who recommended Charlie for the experimental surgery that will hopefully make his intelligence grow. She knows that Charlie is very motivated and this is why she thinks the surgery may be successful. She is a part of the team that is observing Charlie but she is not one of the scientists. At one point in the story when Charlie has become very intelligent there is somewhat of a "love" connection between Charlie and Miss Kinnian.

Miss Kinnian is driven by emotion and has Charlie's best interests at heart. She cares about him deeply. She treats Charlie with a great deal of respect and understanding. As his intelligence continues to grow, Charlie has to deal with many issues and she is always there for him.

I'm thinking you're probably asking about Flowers for Algernon.  Next time, you might want to put the title of the work you have a question about so that we can answer your question faster.  Miss Alice Kinnian is Charlie's teacher at the Beekman College Center for Retarded Adults. Miss Kinnian truly cares about Charlie, which is why she recommends that he receive experimental treatment.  Miss Kinnian is impressed with how hard Charlie works, which is what endears him to her.  Unlike the other characters, Miss Kinnian has genuine concern for Charlie and wants him to succeed.  Charlie senses this and loves Miss Kinnian for it.

In the book Flowers for Algernon Miss Kinnian is the teacher where Charlie attends school at the college in a program for adults with disabilities.  She is also the one who recommends him for the experimental program based on his personality and his desire to learn.  Charlie has a lot of trust in his teacher and takes her advice.

After Charlie becomes more intelligent the two become attracted to one another.  Charlie would like to have a sexual relationship with her and the possibility arises but Charlie carries too much guilt from when he was mentally retarded and had been shamed about the idea of sexual feelings.  He shuts down his interactions with Miss Kinnian.

Later, after Charlie ahs lost his intelligence and has returned to his normal IQ, he visits Miss Kinnian's classroom.  She is very sad to see the changes from the intellectual Charlie back to Charlie with an IQ of 68.
