The first successful airplane was invented by Wilbur and Orville Wright, also known as the Wright brothers. Having created a successful glider in 1902, the brothers dedicated their attention to the development of a propulsion system.

Their dream was realized on December 17, 1903, when they undertook the first powered and controlled airplane flight at Kitty Hawk, in North Carolina.

Back in 1903, many members of the media, as well as other aviation enthusiasts, did not believe what the brothers claimed to have achieved. Due to this skepticism, Wilbur Wright left the USA in 1908 and traveled to France. Orville joined him a year later, and it was here that the Wright brothers became famous.

They began selling their airplanes in Europe before returning to the USA in 1909.

The Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville, were the inventors and the pioneers in the aviation filed. They are specially credited with inventing, building and flying the first aircraft in the world. The two American brothers made the first controlled and sustained flight from a powered aircraft in the year 1903. Their first flight covered around four miles. In the years 1904 and 1905, the brothers developed their machine into a practical fixed wing aircraft. Although they were not the first to build the experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers are known to be the first to invent the aircraft controls that made the flight possible. From their invention, the aviation field opened up and currently, there are some of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

It is true that the Wright brothers were given credit as the inventors of the first airplane, and, they did manage a flight at Kitty Hawk in 1903. The discrepancy comes when examining the history surrounding the "politics" of flight invention during that time. Dr. Samuel Langley was pro ported to have really made the first airplane, but it never saw a flight trial until after the Wright brothers. The Wright brothers did patent their invention, thus making them the official builders of the first plane capable of flight.

The first plane was made by Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright known as 'Wright Brothers'. They did experiments and a lot of hard work before inventing the plane. After so many failures they finally made a machine that could fly known as a plane and they took their first flight in it in the year 1903.
