Who made the first plane?
The first successful airplane was invented by Wilbur and Orville Wright, also known as the Wright brothers. Having created a successful glider in 1902, the brothers dedicated their attention to the development of a propulsion system.
Their dream was realized on December 17, 1903, when they undertook the first powered and controlled airplane flight at Kitty Hawk, in North Carolina.
Back in 1903, many members of the media, as well as other aviation enthusiasts, did not believe what the brothers claimed to have achieved. Due to this skepticism, Wilbur Wright left the USA in 1908 and traveled to France. Orville joined him a year later, and it was here that the Wright brothers became famous.
They began selling their airplanes in Europe before returning to the USA in 1909.
