Who Killed Palomino Molero? is a crime novel set in 1950s Peru written by Mario Vargas Llosa. The body of the titular character, Palomino Molero, is found after he was tortured and killed, and police officers Silva and Lituma are given the responsibility of bringing the killer to justice.

It does not take long for the reader to know that someone at the military base was responsible for Molero's death. The mystery is less about who committed the crime and more about discovering the context of why it happened and whether or not justice can actually be delivered. The exact identity of the killer is actually left somewhat vague due to shortcomings of questions asked by the detectives. But, it is more than implied that Colonel Mindreau either killed or ordered the killing of Palomino Molero because he was having an affair with someone above him in terms of social class—the Colonel's daughter, Alicia Mindreau.
