Who is the most sympathetic character in the Iliad?

I think this is a matter of opinion, of course, but I also sympathize with Agamemnon.  He is a great man, the commander of the army.  However, he also doesn't get much credit.  I guess I identify with that.  I also feel sorry for the fact that he sacrificed his daughter.  I also feel sorry for anyone who's family is cursed!  That isn't his fault. :)

Achilles' young friend and cousin, Patroclus, is highly sympathetic. He is inspired by the values of the soldier's code and driven to attain glory. When he goes into battle pretending to be Achilles, he is killed by Hector. 

Out of the many deaths in the story, this one is perhaps the saddest.
