In any event, Zelensky came into power by securing seventy-three percent of the vote.

Despite his previous appeals for NATO and EU membership for Ukraine, Zelensky acknowledges that NATO membership is out of reach for now.

Zelensky's response to the Russian war against Ukraine has been to stand and fight. H took a defiant stance and decided to turn down an American offer for evacuation. He has also called for Europeans with combat experience to come to Ukraine's aid.

To thwart the Russian invasion of Ukraine, President Zelensky has asked for a no-fly zone. The West, however, has instead responded with sanctions against Russia. Zelensky thinks that sanctions are insufficient to stop Putin, but his request for a no-fly zone over Ukraine is unlikely to to be fulfilled.
