In Jean Fritz's autobiographical book Homesick: My Own Story about her years in China, there are true friends and there are villains. While Andrea was a friend, Ian Forbes was the enemy. Jean Fritz describes him as having square knees. It was his knees by which she judged that he was impossible to beat in a fight. Ian Forbes used to bully Jean Fritz into doing things against her will (that's what bullying isn't, making people do things against their wills). Ian Forbes was from England and Jean Fritz is American, although she was actually born in China.

Ian Forbes was a boy who took British school with Jean in China. Jean didn't want to sing about the British king because she was American, not British. He was a bully who always won fights and made Jean sing the song.
