Who is Elizabeth Butler Yeats ?I would like information on her.
William Butler yeats, the Irish poet and promoter of irish culture, had a daughter Anne who was celebrated in a beautiful poem he wrote called 'A Prayer for My Daughter.' In this poem he celebrated her innocence and beauty, but worried about it too. He sits by her cradle on a freezing stormy night while the wind howls outside and writes down his anxieties for her future and for Ireland's future too. He worries about her place in it. He also worries that she will not be so beautiful that it will cause troubles for her and for those around her - like Irelan'ds do. He fears a loss of civilization if the irish freedom rebels go too far and destroy social order as well as British rule and hopes that his baby daughter won't become hardened and politicized too much by the events,
Elizabeth Yeats is the daughter of John Butler Yeats, the Irish artist, and the sister of William Butler Yeats, the famous Irish poet. Elizabeth Yeats' nickname was Lolly (or Lollie). She was a very talented, strong woman who worked hard at her printing press to provide for her family.
