An antagonist is a character in a story who works against the main character. In "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" the antagonist would have to be Merlin.  Hank undermines Merlin's desire to keep the kingdom under the "old ways" and customs.  His magic fails until the very end when he succeeds in putting Hank to sleep for 1300 years.
