It's tough to pick just one song, but I usually fall back on something by The Beatles--in this case "Something," written by the late George Harrison. It has a beautiful melody with great lyrics and memorable guitar.

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

You're asking me, will my love grow?
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

My favorite song is always changing.  However, to choose my one top favorite song I think I would pick "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles.  The lyrics involve "all the lonely people."  For some reason, the song speaks to me.  It caught me at an impressionable time as a high schooler.  The song is very poetic.  I still find it both moving and haunting.  It is moody, but also says something about our society then and now.  The true value of a song is if it can stand the test of time.  I believe this one can.

I absolutely love "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by the Police.

I love the part when he says

Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met?
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me that ends up getting wet

To me, it means that he's willing to take care of her no matter what may happen to him in the process.

One of my favorite songs, lyrically, is Bob Marley's "So Much Things to Say" which is a song about people who don't usually have a public voice or whose views often are not expressed in the media. The song takes up that voice and suggests that the things these people have to say affect us all:

"When the rain falls, it don't fall on one man's house."
