The movement of a car in a traffic jam is random in nature. Though it may be possible to estimate the rate at which vehicles move generally by statistical analysis a particular car stuck in a traffic jam does not move at a constant rate.

Similarly, neither the movement of wind over a 24 hour period nor the movement of a basketball player on the court is an example of change at a constant rate.

Only the movement of the second hand around a clock is a very close approximation to change occurring at a constant rate.
