Pick one domestic policy issue and argue that lawmakers are not spending enough time and effort dealing with it.
One issue that lawmakers are not spending enough time on is the issue of entitlement reform. Many of our entitlement programs today are promising much more in the way of benefits than they can possibly deliver. They cannot deliver on what they promise because they do not take in enough money to cover the benefits. Something must clearly be done because programs such as Medicare will run out of money very soon. Because of this, Congress needs to do more about entitlement reform. This will, however, be very difficult since entitlements are a very delicate issue politically. If one party proposes reforms, the other party will be sure to exploit those suggestions to hurt them politically. Therefore, Congress does little on this hugely important issue.
