This is a good question. C.S. Lewis is one of the great thinkers and story tellers of our generation. Unfortunately he did not write an auto-biography. However, he did write copiously. For this reason, you will be able to learn a lot about his life from his writings. I suggest that you start with his book, Surprised by Joy. This book has a lot of personal stories of his life and this is one of the closest pieces to an autobiography that he wrote. It is his journey to a life of faith.
Others have written about C.S. Lewis's life. If you work through them, especially the bibliography, then you will be able to learn a lot about his life. Here are some suggestions.
- Jack: A Life of C.S. Lewis by George Sayer
- C.S. Lewis: A Biography by A.N. Wilson.
These two books are the most well-read biographies of C.S. Lewis. For more information on him, do a search at a library with key words.
