When Odysseus sets sail, Poseidon sends the power of all four winds at him. A wave knocks him out of the book. Odysseus only survives because he grabs on to a raft. Another god intervenes, the goddess Leukothea. She gives him a magic cloth that will save him, if he abandons the raft. He does, and it does, and he ends up on the island of Scheria, home of Princess Nausikaa.
