When did Adolf Hitler die?
Adolph Hitler died on April 30, 1945. He died in Berlin, Germany. This was at the end of World War II. The cause of Hitler’s death was suicide. He died when he shot himself.
Hitler killed himself at the end of WWII because he did not want to be captured. By that time, he realized that his Third Reich was doomed. It was clear that Germany was going to lose the war. Before he died, he had learned that Benito Mussolini (who had been the Fascist dictator of Italy) had been executed after being captured in Italy. It is clear that Hitler did not want to suffer the same sort of fate as Mussolini, whose body was hung by its feet in public. It is also likely that Hitler did not want to fall into the hands of the Red Army since the invasion that he ordered had devastated the Soviet Union. Whatever his reasons, Hitler married his longtime companion, Eva Braun late on the night of April 29. Soon after, she committed suicide by poisoning herself and he died by gunshot wound. Their bodies were taken out and burned, thus leading some people to speculate that Hitler did not actually die in 1945. However, the bodies were identified and reputable historians agree that Hitler died by his own hand on April 30, 1945.
