My definition for ambition would be someone who is eager to reach a certain goal or dream. They will make sacrifices to attain to gain their wants.

Amibition of course can have negative effects. For example, someone who is ambitious might forget that they are harming those around them. They might become more egotistic and pompous. Macbeth, Shakespeare's playwright portrays ambition.

Ambition is your inner drive or goal to accomplish "something." I think typically ambition will cause negative effects on those surrounding the character. Ambition is a persons' desire of accomplishment. There are lots of examples found in literature. "Much ado about nothing" one of the infantry is corrupted by fame and fortune. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" hosts Ichabod Crane. He is after the delicious food and fortune of the fair Katrina. Both of these characters are led to demise.
