Recently I've read The Road and I've been jotting down some points relating to the dreams, wanderings and flashbacks the Father seems to have. What are your views on the dreams, wanderings and flashbacks the Father has?
When I was reading The Road, I found myself getting lost in the characters and the struggles they had, forgetting that theirs was a world which had once been a society, and the society had completely collapsed. The flashbacks by the father provide the necessary reminder of that world, and the necessary contrast. It reminds the reader how much has been lost.
