What is your response to this article about a Russian city bidding for a World's Fair?
My main response to this is that it does not seem very relevant to my life. I do not believe that it will make any difference to me whether the World's Fair in 2020 is held in Russia or in Turkey or Thailand.
The only possible relevance I can see to this is that it might possibly help to draw Russia closer to the West. If the people of this city have to create an environment that will be attractive to foreigners, they might have to improve things like law enforcement and reduce corruption in their city. However, Beijing had the Olympics without really showing any signs of long term improvement so I do not see why Yekaterinburg would be any different.
