.15x + 86 (.85) = Final overall average.

So if you made a 68 on the final exam, multiply the 68 times fifteen percent, or .15.  The resulting number is 10.2.  You would then add the 10.2 to 86 times 85%:

.15 (68) + 86 (.85) =

10.2 + 73.10 = 83. 3, your Final Overall average

The good news is that even if you made a 0 on your final exam, your average would still be above a 70.  Your average of 86% is worth 85% of your final average, so even with a zero on the final, your average would be 73%.

You would need to score at least a 47 on the final exam to maintain your B average for the final grade.
