Without question, knowledge would have been beneficial to each of the characters throughout Catching Fire. If Katniss and Peeta had known how many problems their “act of defiance” had caused, and the extent to which President Snow was concerned their actions most certainly would have been different on the victory tour. In addition, an understanding of Haymitch’s plan during the Quarter Quell would have certainly impacted the decisions made by both in the arena. Gale would have been much more at ease if he understood the catalyst for Kat’s actions in the arena from her perspective. In the end, a greater understanding of people’s thoughts and plans would have been a great help to almost any character in the novel.
