Perhaps the greatest cultural contribution of African kingdoms came in the form of architecture.
Many African kingdoms were home to impressive architecture. The best-known of these, of course, are the pyramids of Egypt. However, the Egyptian pyramids were not the only great architectural achievements of the African kingdoms. There were pyramids at Meroe. There were stone churches carved out of solid rock in Axum. There were large walls and public buildings made of stone without the benefit of mortar in Great Zimbabwe.
These examples of marvelous architecture and building techniques are a major cultural contribution of the African kingdoms.
