There were two main types of domestic repercussions of these attacks.  First, there were political repercussions.  After the attacks, the main thing we wanted in a leader was toughness on terrorism.  This desire was perhaps the major reason that President Bush was reelected in 2006.  Second, there were repercussions that affect our daily lives.  These come in the form of greater worries about security.  We see this most clearly when we go to an airport.  The desire for security that was inspired by the attacks has created the system we now have with checkpoints and shoe inspections and body scanners.
