Certainly, I would suggest that one of the greatest accomplishments of a diverse community interacting and sharing ideas would be the Civil Rights movement. I feel that the issue of Civil Rights was so important, but yet so diverse because the African- American community came from so divergent of backgrounds. The Civil Rights movement proved to be such a major accomplishment because there was a sharing of ideas. Dr. King and his followers presented one set of ideas as to how Civil Rights should be achieved. Malcolm X and his followers represented another set of ideas that could be followed in order to achieve the goal of racial acceptance. Stokely Carmichael and other young leaders seen in the Black Panthers represented yet another set of ideas. The sharing of ideas in such a diverse community as the African- American one was critically important to the accomplishment of Civil Rights. It is evident that when ideas are exchanged and understood, greater concepts can emerge and represent a forum in which individuals can understand what is and what can be. The sharing of ideas and community interaction becomes vitally important in the context of Civil Rights.
