What ultimately is God promising that goes beyond the story of Abraham?

Even thought the story of the Hebrews is one of exclusivity and separation from other cultures and other ancient religious practices.

God promises Abraham many things, one being many decendents. Beyond that, he promises them a land with flowing milk and honey that will meet their every need.

Since many writings have been added to the original 5 books of the bible, the same promise is being offered over and over, but now with clearer terms. The Israelites spent 400 years trying to find this land, but God further meant a figurative land, heaven. The Christian believes in heaven and its reality, but the exclusivity clause isn't really all that exculsive.

God guarantees eternal life or heaven to anyone who will repent of their sin and turn to him. This is what he required of Abraham, but in Abraham's time, regular sacrifice of animals had to be made to show God this devotion. God finally sent his Son to die so those sacrifices wouldn't have to be made and the Christian now gains their inheritance of heaven by simply believing in the truth that Jesus died on the cross. Anyone can choose to have that belief and earn eternal life.

God ultimately promised heaven.
