The Republican and Democratic Parties disagree on essentially everything these days. But here are the two most important general ways in which they disagree this year.
First, the Democrats want the government to be more involved in the economy and the Republicans want it to be less involved. One example of this is that the Democrats continue to support the idea of “Obamacare” where the government requires everyone to get health insurance. Republicans want to repeal that law.
Second, the Republicans are in favor of having the government try to make laws to protect traditional values while the Democrats are not. This shows up, for example, in the Democrats’ efforts to make all insurance companies cover contraceptives. Republicans oppose this in part because many of their constituents belong to religions that frown on the use of contraception.
These are the two main general ways in which the two parties differ.
