This is a great question. From a Christian point of view, there are several things that can be stated on the topic of mental abuse.
First, Christianity underscores the importance of the mind. For example, Jesus speaks of loving God with all of our minds. So, in this sense, Christianity can see the great sorrow that is associated with the abuse of the mind. It can also account for these types of abuses, because it has an understanding that the world is not as it should be.
Second, Christianity also can address this topic from the view of restoration. In other words, the words of Christ, who is the word of God (John 1:3) can transform a person's mind and give hope, so that there can be healing even from mental abuse.
Finally, Christianity can offer the strength to forgive those who have harmed you. In this way, a person can truly be free.
