Dohrmann's story explores the sordid underbelly of youth basketball. Joe Keller is a coach of the Amateur Athletic Union in Southern California’s Inland Empire. His ambition is to find and promote boys, who would go on to become the most touted players in the country. Demetrius Walker, a 14-year-old basketball player, becomes a victim to Keller's designs and struggles to live up to his unrealistic expectations.

While coaching Walker, Keller dreams of becoming a millionaire himself. He expects Walker to sponsor his team in the future when he is in the N.B.A. He counts on a $500,000 cut from Walker’s first N.B.A. contract.
