What are some good examples of a thesis for a research paper on the Scientific Revolution?
A good thesis might be that the Scientific Revolution was a direct result and product of the Renaissance. Prior to the Renaissance, the standard of knowledge was Scholasticism--that is, authority based on the Bible and Aristotle which one dare not question. The Renaissance saw the birth of Humanism, the idea that human beings are basically good and worthy of study. With the Renaissance, one sees scholars studying ancient texts in the original language and no longer accepting standard translations such as that of St. Jerome. The end result is the demise of authority and the rebirth of experimentation as the path to knowledge. Had there been no Renaissance, there would have been no Scientific Revolution. Hope this helps.
