If you are looking for some primary texts to help support your research, you might consider using King's "Letter from a Birmingham Jail."  King drafted the letter on multiple scraps of newspaper while he was in jail.  In the letter, King expresses his frustrations at the lack of support shown by clergy and others in positions of power.  King also discusses his definition of "unjust laws" and explains in detail his notion of civil disobedience.  As the letter continues, King's tone shows an increasing level of frustration with the positions that people have taken with regards to the civil rights movement.  Since this is a primary text, it would be a great inclusion in a study on King and his fight for racial equality.
